CCCI & IPI Foundation Supports Adopt-A- School Program
Four portable sinks with one month supply of germicidal soap was turned over to Canamucan Elementary School in Compostela, Cebu by IPI Foundation led by its Executive Director Lourdes Damazo last September 28, 2016.
Approximately 150 elementary pupils will benefit from this Operation Hygiene Support Project initiated by IPI Foundation as the portable sinks will be placed inside the classroom. This project aims to promote proper hygiene by emphasizing the importance of hand washing to the students.
This is part of Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee specifically under the Adopt-A-School program chaired by Dennis Wong, EVP & COO of International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IPI).
The Adopt-a-School program of the Department of Education is governed by Republic Act 8525 or the Adopt-a-School Law of 1998. This program was established to encourage private entities to help in the improvement of public schools, whether in the elementary, secondary or tertiary level. In lieu, donor companies will be provided tax incentives.
To guide the donor companies or institution what kind of assistance to extend, DepEd identified the following packages of support or interventions such as Infrastructure, Physical Facilities, Furniture & Real Estate; Learning Support; Health and Nutrition; Reading program; Technology Support; Direct Assistance; Training and Skills Development; and Assistive Learning Devices for Students with Special Needs.
CCCI members are encouraged to support this program through the identified areas of interventions or depending on the needs of the school they want to adopt.
