Carlo Paalam Gets Olympic Silver Medal
Olympic boxer Carlo Paalam successfully gets the silver medal for the men’s flyweight division in the Olympics after losing the gold medal bout against Great Britain’s Galal Yafai.
Despite the loss, Paalam has now cemented his spot as one of the world’s top flyweight boxers in the world.
Paalam lost the gold medal bout in a split decision as the olympic boxer fought his heart out as the last man standing in the Olympic delegation of the Philippines for this year.
Paalam’s silver completes Philippines’ trio of medalists in boxing. Joining him are boxers Nesthy Petecio, who won Philippines’ first silver medal in the women’s Featherweight division in boxing after 25 years, albiet just days before Paalam secured his silver medal; and Eumir Marcial, who won a bronze medal for the Philippines in the men’s Middleweight division.
The trio hoped to continue Hidilyn Diaz’s winning ways after the weightlifter won the country’s first gold medal in the Olympics in the country’s 97-years of participation. (GFB)
