Being Salt and Light

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

You can’t make people trust in God, but you can facilitate the process if you faithfully reflect Jesus’ love. When others see the love of Jesus in you, many will want to know what makes you so different. People will be attracted to a beacon of light that offers hope for a safe journey in a dark world. When they come to you because of the light of Jesus’ words to tell them about their need for God.

“Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me only, but in the one who sent Me. The one who looks at Me is seeing the one who sent Me. I have come into the world as a Light so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.” John 12:44-46
