Another Move to Re-open Tabunok Public Market
First district congressional bet Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas this morning admitted he is open to the possibility of re-opening the Tabunok Public Market in Talisay City.
Samsam’s statement came a day after the public market’s terminal for tricycle was re-opened by his grandfather, third-term Congressman Eduardo Gullas (1st district). But Samsam, who is running unopposed, said he will only do it after public consultation.
“I’m open to the idea. If the public wants it, and if the leaders of Talisay will see that it’s the right thing, then it may happen,” said Samsam in an interview. He said it was also after consultations with tricycle drivers that City Hall officials and the older Gullas following complaints of traffic under the flyover had decided to open that portion of Tabunok Public Market.
Last August 2011, the city closed Tabunok Public Market and its terminal and transferred the vendors and drivers to Lagtang Public Market.
