AirAsia PH to welcome back over 400 Hibernating Staff as Demand of Air Travel Expected to Increase
AirAsia Philippines is to gradually welcome back to the company over 400 staff on hibernation as the company expects higher demand for air travel due to ease of restrictions.
The announcement was made by AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricardo Isla Thursday.
According to Isla, around 15 percent of the hibernating employees, mostly pilots and cabin crew, will undergo retraining on December, while the remaining 85 percent of the staff consisting of their engineering team and ground operations staff will be taken in during the first quarter of 2022.
AirAsia PH’s hibernating employees are employees who are currently on inactive status as travel demand was severely hampered due since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, things are looking to change for the company as quarantine restrictions around the globe are now relaxed and more are vaccinated, which translates to an increase in the demand for in air travel. (GFB)
