Acne Myths and Facts Solved
The fastest way to get rid of a problem is to know why it’s there in the first place. Here are few myths solved and presented facts that tell you what really causes breakouts. Always remember, prevention is the best cure!
Myth: Poor hygiene
False! Oil and bacteria causes acne, even if you wash each day you can still get acne. Know your skin type and follow a religious regimen! Ask your girlfriends what they recommend but keep in mind that what works for them may not work for you.
Fact: Lots of stress
Stress causes hormone levels to change which makes oil glands go into overdrive. With too much oil, pores get clogged which results to inflammation. If you’re oilier than usual you can use Garnier’s Pure Self-Heating Sauna Mask for P49. The warmth helps clear out your clogged pores.
Myth: Wearing makeup
Makeup doesn’t cause zits but some products, especially when they’re oil-based can clog pores and trigger allergic reactions. Make sure to remove your makeup before going to bed with an oil-free makeup remover like Maybelline’s Eye and Lip Makeup Remover (for P199) followed by your usual facial wash.
Fact: Excess washing
Think you’re squeaky clean if you exfoliate everyday? It doesn’t make you extra clean as it does more harm than good. It only causes irritation and makes skin more likely to break out. Wash your face two times a day, and exfoliate every 4-7 days.
