Accreditation of Vloggers for Malacañang Coverage Eyed
The next administration may see vloggers doing coverage for Malacañang matters, according to incoming Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
This comes as Cruz-Angeles said during a Laging Handa Briefing Wednesday that she would push for policies to allow vloggers to cover Malacañang.
This will include the matters concerning President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Moreover, Cruz-Angeles also eyes to have vloggers present in pressers conducted by Marcos Jr.
“We are pushing for the accreditation of vloggers to be invited to some of the briefings especially those conducted by the President-elect,” Cruz-Angeles said.
An accreditation for social media users to cover Malacañang is already in effect, however, outgoing Communications Secretary Martin Andanar approved Department Order (DO) 15, which effectively establishes accreditation for social media practitioners to cover special events that are attended by outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte.
Moreover, under the DO, accreditations will only be issued to Filipino social media users who are 18 years old and above and have a following of not less than 5,000 on any social media platform.
This follows the success that the Marcos-Duterte tandem enjoyed during the campaign period of the 2022 national elections, where a comprehensive vlogger coverage of their campaign trail was allowed. (GFB)
