NAIA Taxi Driver Returns P150k to Foreign Passenger
Taxi driver Rodney Chad Mallari of Peoples Network Transport on Tuesday (July 3) returned to its rightful owner a black pouch containing Php50,000.00 cash, $USD 2,000, several credit cards, IDs, and an iPhone 8.
The items belonged to Belen Zoza Swegler, 66 years old, a US Citizen who arrived on board a PAL flight from Palawan and took an airport accredited yellow taxi from NAIA 2 and asked to be brought to Newport, Pasay City.
Swegler narrated that when she checked her belongings, she was shocked to discover that her pouch was missing. She immediately returned to NAIA 2 and asked for assistance from the Terminal 2 police office with the hope to get her pouch back.
Mallari said he was on his way back to Terminal 2 when he noticed a black pouch inside his cab.
The two eventually met in Terminal 2. Swegler expressed elation over the recovery of her pouch. She thanked the driver and the T2 police for their assistance.
Swegler returned to Newport City with driver Mallari bringing her to said destination.
Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal said he is proud to have the likes of Espiritu among the ranks of NAIA accredited taxi drivers.
“Ako ay nagagalak sa katapatan ni Mr. Rodney Chad Mallari . Sana manatili siyang tapat sa kanyang trabaho at maging tunay na ehemplo ng kabutihan sa mga kapwa niya transport drivers. Ang mga maliliit na kabayanihang tulad ng kanyang ginawa ay malaking tulong sa ating efforts na mapaganda ang imahe ng NAIA sa mundo,” Monreal said. (PIA-NCR)
