Capitol Eyes Land in Tuburan for BSP Cebu Camp Site
The Cebu Provincial Government, through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, eyes an 8.5-hectare lot in Barangay Kalangahan, Tuburan for the construction of the Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) Cebu’s camp site.
“We are willing to acquire a piece of land in Tuburan,” Governor Hilario P. Davide III said during the induction of BSP officers Thursday, July 20.
The BSP Cebu Council earlier expressed their need for a camp site.
“In every year, the national office measures the performance of the councils all over the country. But this year, we suffered a minor setback because we do not have a camp site,” Atty. Joseph M. Baduel, Council Chairman of BSP Cebu said.
Aside from the lot in Tuburan, Capitol is also eyeing a lot in Busay.
“This (Tuburan lot) is ready for acquisition if ever mo-procure ang province or ang Boy Scout of the Philippines Cebu Council,” Emmanuel Guial, Head of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office said in an interview.
Guial was tasked by Davide in “administering Capitol properties.”
He added that he cannot disclose the amount of the privately-owned lot yet, as the procurement process is still “premature.”
Meanwhile, USA Bronze awardee Ret. Judge Meinrado P. Paredes raised concerns regarding water availability in the area.
“We must see to it nga naa ba’y spring, nga ma-cover tanan panginahanglan,” Paredes said.
However, Guial assured that the area has enough water resource for the camp site.
“Ang kana mismo nga property naay spring, and at a nearby area naa pa jod na siya’y water (resource). Tuburan has a lot of creeks and rivers,” Guial added.
