RPOC 7 Compliance Team to Ensure Security Enforcement in Region 7

A compliance team that will ensure the implementation of the security measures in Region 7 is being proposed during the Regional Peace and Order Council-Central Visayas (RPOC 7) special meeting on Thursday.

Lt. General Oscar Lactao, commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Central Command (AFP-Centcom), in a written proposal, said the creation of the team will ensure that the measures agreed in the council (RPOC-7) are being implemented.

General Allan Arojado, representing Lactao, said the body will report to the council if the processes are enforced by the member agencies.

“This is like an audit team. Whatever the council is proposing and agreed upon, there should be a multi-sectoral body that will report to the council that such measures were implemented,” Arojado said.

Lt. General Oscar Lactao was in Manila to attend a joint conference in Malacañang.

Arojado, however, assured to furnish copies of the organizational structure and functions of the compliance team to RPOC members so they could study the proposal.

No discrimination

Meanwhile, Governor Hilario P. Davide III guaranteed that there will be no discrimination for Marawi residents who wished to seek refuge with their relatives in Cebu.

“I’ve read on the papers of incidents of discrimination experienced by our Muslim brothers in other places. Rest assured that it will not happen here in Cebu,” said Davide.

Moreover, Davide urged Muslim representatives who attended the RPOC special meeting to immediately report to authorities if they observe suspicious activities by individuals who are new in their communities. (Kelvin Canizares)
