Some 1,231 senior citizens from Barangays Vito and Tunghaan, both in Mingalinilla, benefited from the Provincial Government-initiated Halad Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola program last June 25.

The program featured a distribution of packs of rice and other food. Vice Governor Agnes Magpale took the lead of the distribution. She also took it as an opportunity to meet and greet with the senior citizens.

Some 475 beneficiaries in Brgy. Vito and some 756 in Brgy. Tunghaan were thankful of the program.

Some of those who expressed their delight upon receiving the goods were Vicente Dehan, a 66 year-old farmer; Eurfracia Ortiz, a 66 year old traditional therapist; Pedro Lariosa, a retired man of 76 years; and, Mercedez Paran, a 75 year old housewife.

Vito Barangay Captain Jenifer Lariosa said that the Halad Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola program plays a big role in boosting the morale of the senior citizens of her barangay by making them experience the fact that the province cares for them in addition to granted requests from their barangay.

A deep well pump from the province through Magpale augmented the decades old water system in the area and provided irrigation to plants of around 400 fruit and vegetable farmers in Sitio Camarin, especially during the El Niño phenomenon.
