Capitol Implements P206 Million Infra Project

Governor Hilario P. Davide III and the Provincial Government implemented Php 206 million worth of road and bridge projects in 2014 and 2015.

These include two projects in the Malapascua Island Eco-tourism Development Plan approved by Governor Hilario P. Davide III last year.

The other road projects are annexed to, if not farm-to-market roads (FMR) itself.

The road projects funded by the Capitol are either FMRs or tourism areas.

At least Php 39.4 million was downloaded to the local government units for the construction of school buildings this year.

The Capitol also allocated Php 7.92 million for the construction of level III water systems in the towns of Bantayan, Daanbantayan, San Remigio for Yolanda relocation sites.

Another Php 3.47 million was set aside for similar works in Argao, Malabuyoc and rainwater tanks for the Capitol building for this year.

Some Php 19.43 million was spent for the construction of public buildings such as the women’s crisis center and livelihood training center in Sudlon, Cebu City, and the upgrading of the electrical system of the Cebu South Bus Terminal.

There are also special projects to be implemented this year with the entry of the Philippine Rural Development Project of the Department of Agriculture.

At least 20.841 kms of roads will be initially improved in the northern Cebu under PRDP. These farm-to-market road (FMR) projects cost Php 207.349 million with the province providing 10 percent counterpart fund.

For the PRDP, these FMRs are located in Yolanda-hit areas of San Remigio, Daanbantayan and Bogo City.

The Capitol also continued to develop district hospitals in the province through the health facility enhancement program of the Department of Health. The program has a total budget of Php 217 million. Some of the constructions were completed in 2013 and 2014.

The Php 19.78 million Sangi-Bugho road concreting in San Fernando is 80 percent complete. The road links San Fernando to Pinamungajan-Toledo City highway. It cuts travel time from two hours to 45 minutes from San Fernando to Pinamungajan. The road is expected to be finished in July or August.

Another road project that is about to start is the Php 3.34 million Malapascua Island circumferential road. Also downloaded was Php 1.5 million to Daanbantayan municipal government for the construction of a multi-purpose building in Malapascua.
