RTWPB Region 6 to Conduct Last Hearing for Wage Increase
Iloilo City (PNA) -– The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 6 will conduct their last hearing on the wage hike increase petition in Negros Occidental by Friday before deliberating as to how much would be the approved amount.
Nessa Nolido of the RTWPB in Region 6 said that the RTWPB received the last petition for the amount of P182.00 per day increase Jan. 22 of this year but that they also had earlier received another petition for P85.00 September 2014.
”We will continue to accept position papers from petitioners 10 days after the last public hearing,” Nolido said.
The RTWPB because of the petitions already conducted public hearing on January 13 in Roxas City; Jan. 30 in Kalibo; and the latest was on February 10 in Iloilo City for Iloilo, Antique and Guimaras provinces.
The RTWPB during its deliberation will then come into decision based on the legality of the petitions.
Nolido said that during their consultations, the business groups particularly the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Aklan, Boracay and Antique have asked for moratorium citing that they could not afford the petitioned wage increase.
In Western Visayas, the present daily minimum wage is P287.00. (PNA) LAP/AJPETINGLAY/VLO
