The Cebu City Council now wants to know whether the government hospital in Barangay Guba has been utilized by the residents of the mountain barangays.

The City Coouncil is now waiting for the performance report of the officials of the 25-bed emergency hospital after concerns were raised if it was really used or not.

During the weekly session last Wednesday, the Sangguniang Panglungsod approved the resolution of Councilor Lea Japson, head of the City Council’s Committee on Health and Hospital Services, to request for the full report from the caretaker of Guba Emergency Hospital in Barangay Guba, Cebu City.

Japson have pointed out that the Cebu City government is allocating P3 million for the 25-bed capacity hospital.

But according to reports that have reached the councilor, only a few patients have sought the services of the medical facility.

In her resolution, Japson has requested Dr. Fe Cabugao, caretaker of Guba Emergency Hospital, to submit a report to the City Council on the number of patients who have availed the hospital’s services as well as the utilization report of their drugs and medicines.

Japson said the six-month period report from Cabugao, from January to June 30, would guide the city legislators on further discussion of the Annual Budget for 2014.

The city government has hired doctors and nurses to improve the services of the city-run hospital in order to cater the needs of those living in the mountain barangay.

Mayor Michael Rama has earlier said that the use of the satellite-hospital would decongest the Cebu City Medical Center. Two years ago, the Department of Health (DOH) donated P10 million to improve the physical structure of the hospital.
