8 Makeup Tips from the Experts
Prominent makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts here in the Philippines share their quick and easy tips and secrets.
1. Makeup in a minute: For a quick “made-up” look, you can go a long way with just eyeliner! It can double as eyeshadow too because it lasts longer.
2. Look fresh: Exhaustion and stress is always evident in the eyes. To look fresh gently pat concealer onto dark undereye circles and curl lashes from the very root of the lashline moving up to the tips. Two coats of mascara and a white or flesh eyeliner pencil on the lower rim of the eye to tone down redness helps achieve a well-rested look.
3. Go matte: For super oily faces, a light dusting of cornstarch powder with a flat, fluffy brush after makeup application absorbs oil and makes makeup last longer.
4. A natural flush: A water-tinted blush is super natural! Place two drops on the apples of your cheeks, dip your finger in water, blend and let it dry.
5. Be party ready: Applying dark liner on your upper and lower lashline instantly glams up your look and makes you ready for a night out.
6. Flirty lashes: For a wide-eyed look curl your lashes and apply mascara. Concentrate on the lashes on the outer corners of the eyes to give them a sultry lift.
7. Go natural: Blending is very important! Foundation looks great when you can’t see it’s there. Eyeshadow and blush shouldn’t look like blocks of color but instead be blended well on the face.
8. Lock in those lips: To get a defined lip line, get a glass of cold water, and submerge your lip pencil with the cap on for about three minutes then apply as usual. Your pencil will be firmer and will produce a more defined lip line. For a softer look, dip your pencil into your lip balm and apply. (Adapted by Jessy Pearl from Seventeen magazine Philippines)
