65th Miss Universe Candidates Visit Cebu
Festive mood filled the Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base as Vice Governor Agnes Magpale welcomed ten selected Miss Universe 2016 candidates’ arrival in Cebu last Tuesday for a media presentation.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Kat de Castro, DOT 7 Director Judy Gabato, retired DOT 7 Director Donnie Roa and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza with little girls wearing each candidate’s national costumes also welcomed the lovely ladies.
These candidates were representatives from China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam and our very own, Philippines.
After the quick stop at the air base, five of the candidates flew to Oslob, southern Cebu for whaleshark watching while the remaining five stayed for a press conference. All ten candidates then joined a mini-heritage tour in the evening visiting Cebu’s historical sites such as the Lapu-lapu Shrine, Magellan’s Cross and Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.
Miss Universe all in for Cebu
Cebu is lucky to be chosen as the only place outside Metro Manila where all candidates of Miss Universe 2016 will be brought together.
De Castro reassured everyone that swimsuit presentation of the candidates will happen in JPark Resort and Waterpark, Mactan.
On January 17, three major Miss Universe 2016 events will be held in Cebu. These include a festive lunch followed by the swimwear presentation with tickets at P12,500/person; Kadaugan Dinner and Fashion Gala also at P12,500/person; and the after-party at P8,000/person.
Philippines will play host of the 65th Miss Universe with the coronation night on January 30 at SM Mall of Asia Arena where the proud Filipina reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will pass on her crown. For more information, visit their website thru www.65thmissuniverse.com. (Francis Nacua)
