By the time President Benigno Aquino III will relinquish his post in 2016, the rehabilitation of areas hit by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) will be completed, Malacañang said.

In an interview in Malacañang on Wednesday, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said 30 percent of the 25,000 projects in the comprehensive Yolanda rehabilitation master plan will be finished by the end of this year, GMA News Online reported.

Coloma added that half of these projects will be undertaken next year, while the remaining 20 percent will be done by 2016.

Report said Aquino met with Cabinet officials on Wednesday to set priorities for Yolanda rehabilitation efforts which are guided by a comprehensive master plan Aquino approved last week.

Yolanda hits central Philippines with 6,300 people dead and displacing over 1.4 million families.

The government has been criticized for its supposedly slow response in Yolanda’s aftermath, but Malacañang maintained that its efforts to rebuild areas devastated by the powerful typhoon meet international standards, report said.
