Women-focused Health Activities Conducted in Carmen Town

The importance of health is a priority for any town or city, especially with women’s health.

The town of Carmen launched several activities centered on women’s health in the past months.

During the Cervical Awareness Week, observed from June 20 to 26, Carmen town launched activities that aim to educate women about the importance of cervical health.

Women are told to have regular check-ups to determine if they are at risk of this type of cancer affecting women of reproductive age. Women who have had 3 or more full-term pregnancies have an increased risk of developing cervical cancer.

Last May 4 to May 20, during Safe Motherhood Week, activities and programs were conducted to raise awareness about the proper maternal care during pregnancy, childbirth, lactation period, and postnatal care.

The activities were conducted to prevent the risks of complications and even deaths of mothers, especially in pregnancy, childbirth, lactation period, and postnatal care.

Mothers are also encouraged to seek medical help and have better nutrition — the goal is to provide better facilities, and different services to prevent maternal and child mortality during labor.

Carmen town also partnered with Danao Social Hygienic Clinic and Danao Lying-In clinic to provide services for women and pregnant mothers.

Pregnant mothers were given buntis kits that contain: milk, water, and vitamins.

Women were also educated about proper nutrition and were encouraged to take regular check-ups, speaking of which, check-ups were also provided during the event.

The local government of Carmen thanked the active participation of the women of the town, especially the pregnant women. (ASC)
