What Are Your Core Values?
“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God,” – Romans 8:14
There are a lot of talks these days about core values, those characteristics that identify priorities for your company, your family, or your life. In this age, where liberation has taken its dominion on humanity, with same-sex marriage being approved in some countries, abortion and divorce, to name just a few, it is hard to which values we hold to. Well, the number one core value that we ought to have: It is to be more and more like Jesus by following the principles of the Bible.
Think about it. Who has ever lived in such a way? Jesus poured His life into the lives of twelve ordinary men, investing most of His time with them when some of them betrayed and denied at some point of their relationships with Him. At one point, He even washed these disciples’ feet – the act of a slave or a servant. Jesus healed the sick. He loved the poor. He was concerned about the widow, the orphan, and the person who was left out. He loved kids. He got angry when the religious leaders put the legalism of the Law before the love of God and the love for people. Even when mankind was murdering Him on the cross, He chose to forgive.
Jesus was totally living a life of complete surrender to the Father. He dedicated to doing the will of God of subjecting himself to pain and dying for mankind, yet He was loving, compassionate and forgiving with people. Do you have that kind of balance in your life? We all fall short, but what a model to follow His ideal in everyday living.
The number one core value is to be more like Jesus in spirit and character. What is your core value? Indeed, we fail in God’s standards many times, but we thank Him for His grace, which qualifies us for redemption still, through belief and acceptance of His Son Jesus, as our Lord and Savior.
