Water Supply Increased

The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) informed the public that the water supply in the Jaclupan Facility in Talisay City increased primarily due to the rains we experienced lately.

MCWD Spokesperson Charmaine Kara said that the water supply increased on May 21, Tuesday from 6,900 cubic meters to 10,000 cubic meters.

The Jaclupan Facility can now supply 10,000 cubic meters of water daily.

Even if the water supply increased, the water level in the facility is still at its critical level since the normal water supply is 33,000 cubic meters per day.

The current water supply is lower than the half count of the normal water supply.

Kara said that the rains we experienced lately gave the facility a little advantage to temporarily boost the water supply.

Some residents will still experience water shortage or no water at all.

The MCWD however still continues to distribute water rations on affected areas.

Meanwhile, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Adminstration (PAGASA) Visayas head Engineer Al quiblat said that the “El Niño” will last up to the month of August this year.

Quiblat said that the rains we experienced on the past few days is just a transition from the El Niño to La Niña. (MLC)
