Water Supply in Jaclupan Dam Back to Normal
Due to the rains we’ve experienced this past few weeks, the water supply in Jaclupan Dam in Talisay City is finally back to normal with its 92% water supply.
Even though the water supply is normal, authorities are still hoping that the supply would increase to 33,000 cubic meters from its current 30,000 cubic meters.
If rains will continue to pour down, the 33,000 cubic meter water target can be achieved before the month of June ends.
Meanwhile, the whole water supply of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) is currently 230,000 cubic meters, it is 8,000 lesser than the 238,000 cubic meter normal water count.
Meanwhile, the Buhisan Dam in Cebu City is still suffering from water shortage with its 2,000 cubic meters water supply.
The facility has only a 30% chance of going back to the normal water supply.
The El Niño Phenomenon was said to be the primary reason of water shortage.
On April this year, Jaclupan Dam totally lost its water supply due to extreme heat and warm weather.
Meanwhile, MCWD advised the public to be more patient on the situation since there will be another water interruption on June 28, Friday, from 8am-5pm.
Affected areas are Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City and Northern towns of Consolacion and Liloan.
Meanwhile, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) head Engr. Al Quiblat said that all Local Government Units (LGUs) must be prepared since the province will continue to experience moderate to heavy rains. (MLC)
