Water Interruption to Affect 2 Cities

A 12-hour water supply interruption will affect residents in some parts of Cebu City and Talisay City on August 28 due to a major leak repair.

Affected areas are parts of Gorordo Ave., Gen. Maxilom Ave. MJ Cuenco Ave., Mabolo, Pier Area, Labangon, Banawa, Mambaling, Basak, Kinasang-an, Pardo, Quiot and Talisay City.

A portion of a 700-millimeter-diameter transmission pipe in a subdivision in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City will be repaired from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Consumers are advised to store water supply ahead of time.

The repair work will include draining of the pipe which will take some time since the pipe carries thousands of gallons of water per hour.

Leak repairs include welding and replacing of damaged portions of the pipe.

Repairing leak also ensures the improvement of the water pressure and supply in the areas served.

Under the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) water safety plan, leaks need to be repaired immediately to prevent water contamination.

MCWD is appealing for the residents’ cooperation and patience. (MLC)
