Visit Vibrant Visayas with Cebu Pacific
From postcard-perfect beaches and exotic marine life, to centuries-old landmarks and heritage sites, the Visayas is replete with awe-inspiring destinations that draw travelers from all over the country and the world. Made up of thousands of islands, the region is a popular destination because of its smorgasbord of enriching experiences, gastronomic delights, and one-of-a-kind adventures. These all prove that it really is “more fun in the Philippines.”
One of the best ways for avid travelers to experience the best that the Visayas has to offer is through a backpacking tour of its islands. The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific, offers multi-city tickets that allow budget-conscious explorers to fly to one province and depart from another, maximizing their trip. With Cebu’s central geographic location, it serves as a hub for Cebu Pacific’s many inter-island flights.

Captivating Cebu
Recognized as one of the best island destinations in Asia, the province of Cebu is an ideal gateway to the rest of the Visayas. Beach lovers can head north and find solace in Bantayan Island, and its powdery white sand, fresh seafood and crystal-clear waters. Here, those in search for adventure can go island-hopping and visit Ogtong Cave, a freshwater underground cave. After being hit by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, Bantayan Island remains an enchantingly beautiful destination and is slowly but surely getting back on its feet.
Those heading south can hop aboard a bus or hire a van from Cebu City to the municipality of Malabuyoc, where a rewarding dip at the Mainit Springs in Barangay Monteza awaits them. The hot springs have three pools with varying temperatures, making for an affordable yet reinvigorating spa-like experience.

Laidback Dumaguete
Travel enthusiasts can head next to Dumaguete City, known as the City of Gentle People. Dumaguete may be reached via a 50-minute Cebu Pacific flight from Cebu. Alternatively, travelers can take a bus from the Cebu City South Bus Terminal to Liloan Port, cross Tañon Strait on a fast ferry, and travel by jeepney or tricycle to get there.
Among Dumaguete’s most prominent landmarks is the prestigious Silliman University, a center for excellence in academics, arts and culture, established in 1901. Each year, it also hosts the National Writers Workshop, in which promising writers are mentored by the country’s best and biggest names in literature.
Water lovers can get awestruck by their favorite underwater friends at Apo Island, one of the best diving sites in the world. Those on a budget or are getting their feet wet in exploring the marine world can try snorkeling, swim with turtles, and marvel at the marine sanctuary, which is home to over 650 documented species of fish and over 400 species of corals. Another recommended stop is Bais, an hour away from Dumaguete City, for a one of a kind dolphin-watching experience.
A visit to Bacolod is not complete without making a stop at The Ruins, often referred to as the Taj Mahal of Negros. Built in the 1900s by a sugar baron in honor of his wife, the grand mansion has made a name for itself as one of the 12 most fascinating ruins in the world, attracting thousands of tourists monthly.
