Visayas Employees Among Top – Paid In The Country
Though it is common knowledge that Information Technology – related jobs are still the most lucrative in terms of salaries for most po sition levels, Visayas’ fresh graduates specializing in IT would be happy to know that according to a Visayas Salary Report released by web –
based hiring company JobStreet.com, they out – earn their colleagues in other parts of the country.
Based on jobs posted in the JobStreet.com website from October to December 2015, the study reports that graduates of IT courses received at least Php 23,917, which is at least Php1,000 more than the PhP22,567 national average monthly wage in the same field.
The trend o f Visayas employees getting competitive salaries compared to their colleagues is seen through all position levels. Visayan junior executives specializing in banking/financial services also top the country, earning PhP27,468, which is higher than the national average of PhP26,274 and the PhP26,742 average thatbanking junior executivesearnin the National Capital Region.
Another specialization where Visayas average salaries are higher compared to other areas is customer service-related jobs in the managerial level, where the average is PhP76,015. This is more than PhP4,000 higher compared to the national average (PhP71,839), as well as those in NCR (PhP61,736), Provincial Luzon (PhP58,875), and Mindanao (PhP46,500).
As for other specializations in other position levels, Visayas’ employees usuallyfindthemselves in the middle of the list. The Visayas fresh graduate earns PhP16,404 on the average, which is only slightly lower than the national average of PhP16,582.
Those in the junior executive level (with 1 to 4 years work experience) earn an average of PhP20,640, which although is off the national average by almost PhP5,000, is still higher than the averages in Provincial Luzon (PhP19,400) and Mindanao (PhP18,002).
Moreover, Visayas’ supervisors (or those with 5 to 9 years work experience) specializing in IT, customer service, and finance top the regional list, although the average for this position level at PhP28,381 is already far behind the national average of PhP39,004.
Meanwhile, managers in Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas, plus the newly-formed Negros Island Region earn an average of PhP82,188, which ishigher compared to their Provincial Luzon and Mindanao contemporaries.
On the other hand, the most job opportunities in Visayas are still found in the call center and BPO industry, which accounts for 4 out of 10 jobs in the region posted on JobStreet.com. Retail and manufacturing come second and third in the most in -demand jobs in Visayas.
These three industries offer the most jobs to all position levels, except for managers, where there are more opportunities in Property/Real Estate than in Retail. The report reflects a dynamic job market in Visayas, and JobStreet.com Country Manager Philip A. Gioca opines, “The jobs available in the region are getting more competitivecompared to those offered in the other areas of the country, and even compared to those in the
National Capital Region. Visayas jobseekers should not worry about leaving their hometowns anymore because there are exciting opportunities in their own backyard.”
