Victory Over Sin

“Every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory.” 1 John 5:4

“Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” Romans 8:37

Sin always destroys—sometimes dramatically, sometimes slowly. Sin harasses us, constantly trying to draw us away from our relationship with God. When temptation is allowed to lurk around the edges of our lives, sin is allowed free reign in our hearts. It is like a cancer that you we fail to remove from our body. It is painful, it infects us, and it will eventually kill us. It is addictive and destructive. The more relentlessly we battle sin and remove it piece by piece from our life, the more we will experience the victorious Christian life and all its blessings. To achieve God’s future rewards, we must be obedient in the present.

“How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord!” 1 Corinthians 15:57
