Veteran Newscaster Harry Gasser Dies at 76
Veteran news anchor Harry Gasser, 76, succumbed to complications from a stroke around 3:50 a.m. Thursday, report said. Gasser suffered a stroke on March 28, according to his son, Henry.
Gasser complained of breathing difficulties the previous Sunday while jogging and was brought to Quezon City General Hospital, report said.
Gasser was among the most iconic newsmen of the country. He was a former news anchor on RPN 9’s News Watch—the first English-language news program in the country. His contemporaries includes Bong Lapira, Eddie llarde and Tina Monzon-Palma. Gasser leaves behind widow and former comedienne Flora Gasser.
Gasser’s body will be brought to St. Peter’s Chapel along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. He will be cremated on Monday, April 7.
