VECO Now ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Certified
Consistent with its vision to be a world class electric utility, the Visayan Electric Company, Inc. (VECO) was recently given the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications.
According to the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 14001:2015 specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance.
ISO 45001:2018, meanwhile, specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.
“These certifications prove that VECO is a world class company and each and every VECO Kaibigan is committed to keeping the electric utility that way. This is our commitment to our customers and the communities that we serve,” said VECO Chief Operating Officer Anton Mari G. Perdices.
The two certifications, which took effect in February 2019, brings VECO’s ISO certifications to three. Last year, VECO was also granted the ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management Systems (QMS). VECO obtained the certifications after undergoing two-stage audits administered by leading ISO-accredited certifying body TUV Rheinland Philippines.
VECO, the second largest electric utility in the country, is owned and managed by publicly-listed Aboitiz Power Corporation and Vivant Corporation, serves the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, Naga and four municipalities of the greater part of Metro Cebu — Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla and San Fernando.
