Employees of the Visayan Electric Company (VECO) collected an estimated 2,000 kilos of garbage during a clean-up drive along J. Panis Street last April 13.

A total of 58 VECO Kaibigans participated in the annual clean-up dubbed “Atong Tugkaran, Atong Limpyuhan.” The activity, which is on its seventh run this year, is VECO’s contribution to Earth Day efforts to save the planet, and at the same time educate the electric utility’s neighbors on the importance of proper waste disposal.

With their brooms, rakes and other cleaning materials, the VECO clean-up volunteers were able to gather close to 100 sacks of garbage with the help of waste disposal personnel from Barangay Kasambagan.

“Atong Tugkaran, Atong Limpyuhan” is a Corporate Social Responsibility activity of the Visayan Electric Company to celebrate Earth Day and serves as a call for its customers and stakeholders to do their share in saving Mother Earth.
