Various Livelihood Program Extended to 4P’s Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Negros Oriental availed of various livelihood projects from different government line agencies and even the private sector.
In a recent provincial convergence committee meeting with partner agencies, 4Ps Provincial Link (PL) Bella Asela Tse of the Department of Social Welfare and Development -7(DSWD) informed everyone present that livelihood programs from partner government agencies such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) involved some 769 4Ps beneficiaries in their National Greening Program (NGP).
The Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO) according to Tse, served 4,392 Pantawid beneficiaries who availed of the cooperative’s loan program and other services.
Twenty five (25) Pantawid beneficiaries were also enrolled in various skills training program of the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Dr. Socrates Vilamor from the Department of Health (DOH) announced that as of June 2018, a total of 2,275 Pantawid beneficiaries availed of various services of DOH like immunization, pre-natal check up, free medicines, vitamins and nutrients for children and other medical services.
According to Tse, the convergence initiatives are pooling their resources together in partnership with the local government units (LGUs) to help identify and address certain gaps in implementing livelihood programs in their municipalities.
Beneficiary LGUs include Jimalalud’s tilapia production with a funding of 579,000 from DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) providing technical assistance.
Beneficiaries from Ayungon are into vermi-culture production for organic farming, vegetable production in Basay, and Bindoy in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd) established backyard gardening dubbed as “UTAK” (Utanon sa Tugkaran alang sa Kabataan).
Jimalalud’s tilapia production got a funding of Php 579,000 from SLP with the local government unit’s counterpart and DA for technical assistance.
51 beneficiaries from Sibulan town are also into anthurium flower production while Sta. Catalina 4Ps are engaged in vegetable production.
Valencia 4Ps is into mushroom production while Pamplona LGU provided a structure for a “bagsakan” center” as market of the farm products managed by 4Ps beneficiaries.
In a related development the Visayan Forum (VF) conducted training to 50 beneficiaries in rag making and assisted in marketing their finish products.
