A male Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who just arrived in Mandaue City in Cebu from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tested positive of COVID-19 despite him having the vaccine prior to his arrival.

Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH)-7 said that the OFW was injected two doses of China’s Sinophram vaccine on Dec. 12, 2020 and Jan. 2 of this year.

Upon arrival, he underwent and completed quarantine protocols and had himself swabbed on Feb. 8, yet he still tested positive of the disease.

DOH-7 Spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche revealed that out of the 7 household members, 5 were positive of COVID-19.

Health experts however said that there are several reasons why he still tested on the said disease but they cannot pinpoint a certain reason as of the moment but Dr. Loreche added that the new variant of COVID-19 might have infected the OFW. (MLC)
