UV, JRG Halad Foundation Extends Help to Daanbantayan

At least 1,400 families in Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu received relief packs from the University of the Visayas (UV) and JRG Halad Foundation on Wednesday’s relief operation.

Jose Gullas, executive vice president of UV and founder of JRG Halad Foundation, said they chose Daanbantayan as it was also badly damaged by super typhoon Yolanda when it hit the Visayas last November 8.

Last week Gullas also gave aid to Medellin.

In Tapilon, a coastal barangay of Daanbantayan, 500 food packs were distributed to affected families, while 989 to barangay Tinugdan. Yolanda left thousands of families in both barangays homeless.

Meanwhile, Gullas pledged to repair San Miguel Church in Tapilon so that “the people can still celebrate Christmas.” The said church has lost a portion of its roof due to Yolanda.
