USC Holds 3rd Debate Intervarsity
The University of San Carlos Debate Society held its 3rd USC Intervarsity, June 25 – 27, 2016, at their main campus.
Over 40 debate teams, and about 25 judges from all over the Philippines joined the 3-day debate competition.
USC Debate Society invited four people to be part of the adjudication core. Each, with remarkable debate and adjudication awards. Namely, Melchizedeck Babilonia of University of the Philippines Los Baños, Justin Gular of University of San Carlos, Carlos Hernandez of University of the Philippines Los Baños, and Jayson Maulit of San Beda College.
Team Snorlax and Jigglypuff composed of Candace Tan and RJ Lim emerged victorious in the finals round of the competition. They were up against Team BeeHulk composed of Mariane Besas and Jaya Bautista, Team Igat composed of Arvin Lee Dy Gogo and Rene Gandeza, and Team Jemas composed of Jonas Gan and Jem Domingo.
The best speaker for the finals round was RJ Lim of Team Snorlax and Jigglypuff.
Arvin Lee Dy Gogo won over all Best Speaker of the tournament, followed by a 3-way tie for 2nd Best Speaker were Papat Lozano, RJ Lim and Ejay Christian Co, next in a another 3-way tie for 5th Best Speaker were Rene Gandeza, Matthew Araneta and Philip Mamugay, followed by Mark Quitoy as 8th Best Speaker, then Rendel Badayos, Jonas Gan, Candace Tan, Jaya Minorca Bautista and Jeremiah Valero in a 5-way tie for 9th Best Speaker.
Amiel Samontanez bagged the over all Best Adjudicator award, followed by Megan Cortez as 2nd Best Adjudicator, Jose Garcia as 3rd Best Adjudicator, Trixie Martinez in 4th place, followed by Gab Caballero and Rafael Belandres in a tie for 5th Best Adjudicator, next were Samuel Carlve Saberon and Dorothy Gonzales tied at 7th place, next was Honey Cabeguin in 9th place, and Kyla Santos as 10th Best Adjudicator.
