Updated: Davide Orders Suspension of Classes Wednesday Afternoon

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III orders the suspension of classes Wednesday afternoon in all levels in all Schools in Cebu South. Likewise, Department of Education (DepEd) Provincial Division Superintendent Dr. Arden Monisit also issued the same order.

This announcement, made through the official website of the Cebu Province, came a few hours after weather authorities placed southern part of Cebu under Public Storm Signal No. 1 due to TD Quennie.

Cebu City

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, also the head of the city’s Quick Response Team, announced that classes for public schools both in elementary and high school in Cebu City are suspended starting at 3pm today. Classes for night high school are also suspended.

Tumulak also encouraged private schools to do the same.

In its facebook page, the city government advised all barangay-based disaster risk reduction and management council (BDRRMC) to coordinate with the Cebu City Command Control Center.

Earlier, PAGASA placed 19 areas in Visayas and Mindanao under Signal No.1 as Typhoon Queenie moves closer toward eastern Mindanao.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Queenie was estimated to be 210 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

PAGASA said Queenie has packed maximum winds of 45 kph near the center and is forecast to move west at 24 kph.
