UP Cookout Kicks off on August 16

The most awaited annual collegiate event in the metro is here!

This year’s University of the Philippines’ (UP) Cookout on August 16 promises nothing less but dusk-‘til-dawn fun to both UP and non-UP goers.

The event which will be held at the UP Cebu grounds will have the theme “SKYROCKET: Abort mission. Launch education.” to signify the tuition and other fees increase in state colleges and universities.

With names inspired by elements in astronomy, the main segments Supernova (singing contest), Zero Gravity (dance contest), Moon Rock (band contest), and Space Walk (fashion show) will showcase the best of UP talents. Relevance to the theme will be a major factor in determining the winners of the four competitions.

The winners will bring home prizes in kind from the event sponsors.

UP Cookout will also feature celebrated Cebuano talents. Bands which will be playing include Foc Fashion, Skalibre 32 and One Man Down. Fliptop rapper Loonie from Manila will also rock this year’s Cookout stage.

Surprise guests and performances one would not want to miss, are also in stored on this Cookout night.

Tickets will be free for UP Cebu students while it will cost P70 each for outsiders.
