Typhoon ‘Paeng’ Intensifies, Rain Over Visayas and Mindanao Areas-PAGASA
State weather agency on Monday said Typhoon Paeng (international codename Nuri) intensified early Monday as it continued to move north-northwest at 13 kph.
PAGASA said that as of 4 a.m., Paeng was 1,135 km east of Tuguegarao City, with maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center, with gusts of up to 240 kph. PAGASA said Paeng has no direct effect.
It added that Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. The Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos regions will be partly cloudy with isolated light rain.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA said winds will be moderate to strong from the northeast to northwest over Luzon and the Eastern Visayas, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough. It added that winds will be light to moderate from the northeast to north over the rest of Visayas, and from the northwest to southwest over Mindanao, with slight to moderate seas.
