Turn Your iPad into a Mobile 3D Scanner with Occipital’s Structure Sensor

Published

on

Occipital introduced the Structure Sensor, the world’s first 3D sensor for mobile devices that captures model of rooms, scan objects in 3D, play augmented reality, and develop mobile applications with 3D sensing.

The Structure Sensor works by clipping itself onto a tablet using a bracket, which would then allow you to scan objects in addition to creating your very own 3D maps of indoor spaces. You can play mind blowing augmented reality games where the real world is your game world.

The sensor has its own onboard power supply that provides up to 4 hours of active use and 1000+ hours of standby.

The iPad (4th generation) is supported and will have a corresponding bracket for Structure that quickly and securely connects it with a precision aluminum latch.

Occipital needs to meet $100,000 funding goal, so if you’re interested in funding it then you can head over to Kickstarter and plop down your $349 pledge to get the Structure Sensor, an iPad bracket and a Lightning cable.
