Turkey Declares Coup Attempt Foiled
Istanbul — The Turkish government said Saturday it has overcome a coup attempt by some members of the country’s military that began the previous day.
The New York Times said 265 people died in clashes, including 104 coup supporters, as well as 161 civilians and police officers.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said 2,839 people including military officers have been detained in connection with the incident. (PNA/Kyodo) BNB/RSM
