Tumulak Recommends Name Tags to Children on Sinulog
Aside from banning umbrella during the Sinulog celebration this Sunday, all children who will go with their parents in the field must have name tags.
This was the recommendation by Cebu City councilor Dave Tumulak during the Tapok-Tapok Forum of Cebu media last week at Cebu Business Hotel along Colon Street, Cebu City.
“We urged all parents who have children with them during the Sinulog to put name tags of the little ones, so that they could be easily located once they (get) lost,” Tumulak said.
Tumulak also said to include its real address in the name tag the name of their parents.
Another instruction he advised to everyone, including the police, to surrender every lost child to the nearest police stations.
” As a sort of policy, this must be religiously complied with,” Tumulak said.
The Sinulog celebration will be attended by more or less 5 million people, more than last year’s celebration which was participated only by more than 3 million people.
The big crowd was attributed as the reason why its not ideal for anybody to bring umbrella during the revelry. He said this is due to its pointed top which could easily injure anyone either by negligence or thru a real intent.
“So with this number of people its hard to find out once a little child is lost, so its better for parents, aside from attaching a name tag to their body, they must also teach them to find a police station once they are accidentally separated by their parents for there own safety,” Tumulak said.
Banning umbrella during the Sinulog is not however compulsory so there is no confiscation to be made, according to Tumulak.
“But as a good policy, everybody should try to adopt this, so do with putting name tags to children,” Tumulak said.
