Tudela, Cebu LGU Celebrates Turnover of P8M from DSWD’s Kalahi-CIDSS NCDDP Project
The municipality of Tudela, Cebu was in festive mood in celebration of the recent turnover of 11 sub-projects to the town’s 11 barangays under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD-FO7) program, the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services National Community-Driven Development Program (Kalahi-CIDSS NCDDP).
According to regional information officer Leah Quitana over P8.8 million worth of sub-projects that included concreting of access road with drainage system; concreting of barangay road, pathway; construction of day care center; rehabilitation of barangay hall and day care center; construction of perimeter fence; construction of river control grouted riprap and perimeter fence; construction of grouted riprap and construction of public toilet were turned over to the municipality.
Sangguniang Bayan members Roel Belogolo, Arnito Yamas, and Betty Polancos joined the DSWD workers headed by Community Development Officer III Anita Ebasitas in going to the 11 barangays of Buenavista, Calmante, Daan Secante, General, McArthur, Northern Poblacion, Puertobello, Santander, Secante Bag-o, Southern Poblacion and Villahermosa to turn-over the sub-projects.
Before the construction of the access road with drainage system funded by Kalahi-CIDSS, it was difficult for the students to go to school during rainy days, narrated Grade VI students May Angel Talimporos and Ruthchilito Mauro of Buenavista Elementary School.
According to them, Every time it rained, the school campus got flooded, making it dangerous for the students to pass the access road because they might be swept away by the fast water or get stuck on the muddy and slippery dirt road.
As beneficiaries of the concrete access road and drainage system sub-projects, both May and Ruthchilito expressed their happiness about it.
“We are thankful to everybody who worked for the road concreting and drainage system, making our life here in school safe and easy,” said May and Ruthchilito.
The community volunteers and residents also thanked the workers for patiently guiding them every step of the implementation.
“Wala kami kasinatian bahin sa pag-implementar og proyekto, apan ang kanunay nga pagdasig ug pag-agak kanamo sa Area Coordinating Team (ACT) nakapadasig kanamo sa pagpadayon luyo sa mga pagsulay nga among naagian (We have no experience about implementing a project, but the constant encouragement and guidance of the Area Coordinating Team or ACT has encouraged us to continue working for our development in spite of the challenges we met along the way),” shared Analisa Maratas, Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee(BSPMC) Chairperson of barangay Secante Bag-o.
The ACT of Tudela is composed of Area Coordinator Cresencio Albaran, Technical Facilitator Jemar Bebanco, Community Finance Facilitator Rizilito Bitalas, Community empowerment Facilitators Randolf Rodinni Ramada and Melchor Garciano.
The Municipal Coordinating Team or MCT of LGU Tudela complemented the ACT with two Community Empowerment Facilitators, Leoren Deo Solante and Helen Donayre and one Municipal Database Encoder, Charie Otadoy.
Kalahi-CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the Philippine Government being implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
