TS Bavi to Weaken into LPA, Make Landfall in Aurora by Friday
PAGASA said Tuesday that tropical storm Bavi is expected to weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) by the time it makes landfall over Aurora on Friday night.
PAGASA’s Aldczar Aurelio, over GMA News online update, said Bavi is on track to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Tuesday afternoon.
“Patuloy itong lalapit, inaasahan mag-landfall ito Biyernes ng gabi sa Aurora,” Aurelio was quoted saying.
As of 10 a.m., Bavi was estimated at 1,530 km east of Casiguran, Aurora. It had maximum winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph, PAGASA said.
However, Aurelio also said their models show Bavi, which was moving west-northwest at 20 kph, is likely to weaken as it moves closer to land.
He added that it may be 1,030 km east-northeast of Casiguran by Wednesday morning, 640 km east-northeast of Casiguran by Thursday morning, and 270 km east-northeast of Casiguran by Friday morning.
