Except in Northern Luzon and the province of Palawan most parts of the country will continue to experience fair weather within the next two to three days, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday.

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Shelly Ignacio said northeast monsoon continues to prevail in Northern Luzon while trough of Low Pressure Area (LPA) now affects Palawan.

Ignacio said the LPA remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a slim chance to enter the country. It is not likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone but PAGASA continues to monitor it.

However, one to two tropical cyclones are still expected to affect the the country this November.

She noted the trough or extended cloudiness of LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over the province of Palawan until Friday.

With the presence of northeast monsoon affecting Northern Luzon, the provinces of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains.

Ignacio said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorm or convection

In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.

The state weather bureau issued gale warning due to the effects of the northeast monsoon as the sea condition would be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds expected to affect the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
