Trees Brew Life
TREES BREW LIFE, an annual, massive tree planting event of San Miguel Brewery Inc. kicked off in Mandaue City last Saturday, August 2. The activity which started the company’s nationwide campaign to plant trees was launched this year at the Mandaue City Bride Park under the Marcello Fernan Bridge. Areas planted in Mandaue were at the bridge park, in Barangay Pakna-an and along Cansaga Bridge. The activity was participated in by members of the Mandaue Chamber, employees and officials of Mandaue City and San Miguel Brewery Inc.
During the Trees Brew Life 2014 launch, Mr. Enrico E. Reyes, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, Business Affairs and Communication said that this year the company expects to plant more trees as it is part of its commitment as a corporate citizen. Last year, in Cebu alone, the company was able to plant more than 70,000 tree seedlings in various areas of the province.
Councilor Diosdado “Dadi” Suico of Mandaue City, promised that the city would care for the trees planted in the Mandaue City areas and expressed his appreciation on behalf of Mayor Jonas Cortes for SMB’s continued support of the city’s development. During the event, SMB’s officials headed by Ms. Rebecca Flores, Mr. Enrico E. Reyes and Mr. Ricky Tablante, together with Councilor Dadi Suico, the barangay officials present, Mr. Amado Go, Mandaue Bridgepark Committee Head, and Mr. Jeruel Roa, MCCI president, did a ceremonial lighting of the park.
Mr. Ricardo Tablante, Mandaue Brewery plant manager said during his opening remarks “Our coming back to this venue, furthers our commitment to provide a good environment for the Mandauehanons to enjoy a leisurely rest in this park. We are glad of our being part of the Mandaue Business Month, as all of us who are members of the Mandaue Chamber do want to be able to help in whatever little way we can to the development of our city.
As we celebrate our annual TREES BREW LIFE, we bring to mind how much we owe mother nature. Our business, owes a lot to nature, and our daily lives revolve around what nature provides as well.
We are happy to note that your presence here shows an equal if not greater concern for our environment. Thank you for being part of trees brew life. “
San Miguel Brewery Inc. donated lights for the innermost bay of the bridgepark which gave the place a glint of romance.
