Training Centers are Not Allowed to Recruit OFWs — POEA
POEA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac advised applicants for overseas jobs to be suspicious of training centers that promise enrollees sure employment upon finishing their course.
Cacdac said training centers have no license or authority to recruit Filipino workers and only use publicized job opportunities in other countries to entice applicants.
The administrator has recently ordered the closure of RRR International Training Center, Inc. located at DRT G27 Ground Floor, Plaza Cristina Building, Dolores, San Fernando City in Pampanga after verifying that it was recruiting factory workers for Japan and Korea. The training center was reported to have been offering Korean language course but its name was not found in the updated TESDA registry of technical and vocational institutions (TVIs) and training programs.
Some 18 applicants of RRR International Training Center who were present during the closure operation alleged that a certain Grace Manuel and Regulus a.k.a. “Sir Bong” Mallari own and operate the establishment. Mallari was the same person that was arrested at the POEA premises for alleged illegal recruitment. Mallari was detained in PNP Camp Crame but was reported to be still communicating with the applicants.
Cacdac has ordered the filing of illegal recruitment case against Grace Manuel, Regulus Mallari and other responsible officers and employees of RRR International Training Center and the inclusion of their names in the POEA List of Persons with Derogatory Record. (POEA)
