Tourist Arrivals in Palawan Rising Yearly
Puerto Princesa City — Tourist arrivals in Palawan are increasing every year.
Data furnished by Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) to PNA showed that since 2011, the number of tourist arrivals has significantly increased.
This year, the PTO expects that tourism arrivals will reach 2.3 million, up 28 percent from last year’s 1.8 million, as Palawan once again is dubbed “one of the best islands in the world.”
The number of foreign and domestic tourists hit 1.41 million in 2014 from 1.01 million in 2013; 858,312 in 2012 and 670,556 in 2011.
Bulk of the number were mostly domestic tourists, said the report.
With the rising tourist arrivals, the provincial government wants frontliners, such as tour guides, shuttle van drivers and servers in tourism establishments, to be fully trained on welcoming and providing the needs of the tourists. (PNA) LDV/CARF/JMU/EBP
