Tornado hits Oklohama, Rescue Operations in Action

Rescue teams continue search operations in areas hit by the massive tornado that killed at least 24 people in Oklohama on Monday.

According to reports, no new bodies or survivors were found since the early hours following the disaster.

According to the state medical examiner’s office, at least 24 people, including 9 children were killed.

The tornado packed winds of at least 200mph. The Oklohama City suburb of Moore is identified as one of the areas most affected by the disaster.

According to Governor Mary Fallin, the death toll may still rise as some bodies may have been taken directly to nearby funeral homes.

The body count was initially reported to reach 51 but the state examiner said some bodies might have been counted twice in the chaos.

The Natonal Weather Service (NWS) said the Oklohama tornado is measured as EF5, falling in the strongest category of tornadoes.

Authorities are still investigating the scope of the destruction.

According to NWS, the tornado’s path was 17 miles long and 1.3 miles wide.
