Top 5 Semi Finalists from Cebu to Compete in Accenture Technology Campus Challenge 2018
On its fifth year, Accenture’s Program the Future competition poses a new challenge to the brightest minds from Philippine colleges and universities — to design and build a technology solution with “Tech4Good” in mind — applying innovative technologies and digital solutions for social transformation by helping solve critical challenges faced by business and society today.
During the Semi-Final eliminations round, Accenture has chosen the top five (5) semifinalists in Cebu to compete in the final round with other teams in Manila.
The top 5 semifinalists and their innovative apps:
Aeon is a medical delivery app designed in partnership with the Cebu City Government’s Long Life Program. The city government’s Long Life program aims to deliver and supply maintenance medicine to its qualifying beneficiaries, along with the constant monitoring of their current health status. It enables efficient monitoring and delivery validation through artificial intelligence and allows prediction and risk evaluation through patients’ daily activities and lifestyle. The application also features intelligent delivery verification and predictive stock ordering time in order to address the problem of untracked and/or medicines to patients, as well as the shortage of medicine supplies. On top of that, the application also uses this platform to be able to gather data from each patient based on their daily activities and lifestyle in order to evaluate potential health risks per patient. Overall, Aeon aims to provide better healthcare assistance and disease prevention for a lifetime.
Visual impairment affects 253 million people globally, making textual information out of their reach. Books using the Braille system exists but are often too expensive and rare. With AI and IOT, we will create a glove-camera device that converts text into Braille feedback onto the fingertip. It’s portable, wearable, and affordable. Tactus aims to revolutionize how the blind can connect with our world.
Philippines is a country prone to catastrophes resulting to a vast number of victims thirsty for assistance and support. JUANation is an event driven platform for Non-government organizations to partner with potential donors using IBM Watson AI that will analyze relevant data from reliable and verified news sources about calamity events to systematically generate specific needs based on the calamity location and population, and using blockchain to assure security and transparency of the donation transactions and delivery.
This app serves as a support platform for those who have cancer. Its main features are: User Profile, Community (where people can post and interact with other users), Diary, and Reminders.
5. Team Coop – Entry Name: Tingog (Cebu Institute of Technology University)
Through this competition, Accenture emphasizes its commitment to promote an innovative culture and mindset among the Filipino youth by leveraging the breadth of experience and expertise of its employees as mentors in Blockchain, Cloud, Internet of Things, Extended Reality, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.
The final round and awarding of the winner will be on August 18 in Manila. The grand champion will receive PHP 300,000 cash, PHP 50,000 for winning school and Gadget for Accenture mentor of Grand Champion.
The Program the Future: The Accenture Technology Campus Challenge is an annual competition that aims to spark innovation by challenging Filipino college and university students to think out of the box and come up with innovative ideas that break barriers and positively impact the way society works and lives using new and emerging technologies.
