Tips on ATM Card Safety
(PIA) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) gives some safety tips in using your card in Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
It’s very important for card holders to guard their personal identification number or PIN. Card holders are advised to cover with their other hand while typing their PIN and not to let others know of their number.
If possible, card holders should handle their transactions personally. If in need of help, ask from authorized bank personnel only.
Card holders must also protect their ATM card at all times. Keep in mind that your ATM card is also as good as cash.
Be always alert when using an ATM. Always check on the location of the machine and think of your own safety.
Also, check the ATM for any fraudulent devices attached. Some people get victimized by skimming device attached in the machine. If in doubt, use an ATM located inside or near a bank with security personnel on-guard.
Last but not the least, card holders are advised to keep their transaction records. This will help them and serve as reference if they have queries with their bank. (PNP/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
