Tigerair Philippines makes Northern Mindanao more accessible to travelers once it launches its daily direct flights from Manila to Butuan on December 15, 2014.

The daily flight will leave Manila at 6 p.m. and arrive in Butuan at 7:25 p.m. The return flight will depart Butuan at 8:05 p.m. and will arrive in Manila at 9:50 p.m.

Tigerair Philippines’s lowest year-round fare for Manila-Butuan and vice versa starts at Php3099, a chance for more travelers to satisfy their wanderlust.

Why visit Butuan?

Letty Tan, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism CARAGA Region said that she is delighted to have another airline fly this route. “We believe that Tigerair Philippines can help in our tourism efforts,” she said.

Butuan, the regional and commercial capital of the Caraga Region is a popular destination for those who want to discover its rich and fascinating history.

It has attractions like the Butuan National Museum for those who love ancient history, Delta Eco Park where you can ride a buggy or ATV or their 1.3-kilometer zipline, and the Banza Church Ruins.

You can also visit the Balanghai Boat Building site where old trading boats were built. As early as the 10th century, the locals were already engaged in Asian trade, proof that it was a progressive city before the arrival of the Spaniards.

You may also take a cruise on the 3rd longest river in the Philippines, Agusan River; and have a taste of their native dish Palagsing which is made of coconut meat, nipa fruit and banana leaves.

More travel options

“Tigerair Philippines, through its network made wider with Cebu Pacific, looks forward to offering additional flight and destination options for its guests,” said Atty. Leilani de Leon, Tigerair Philippines Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer.

With the addition of the Butuan route, Tigerair Philippines now offers over 240 weekly flights to 14 domestic destinations such as Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Clark, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Manila, Roxas, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban and Tagbilaran; and one international destination – Hong Kong. It utilizes a fleet of four Airbus A320 aircraft.
