Three Women Missing for Years Found Alive
Three US women who vanished over a decade ago have been found alive Monday in a house in Cleveland, police said.
Amanda Berry disappeared in 2003 at the age of 16 while Gina de Jesus disappeared a year later at the age of 14. The third woman, Michele Knight, went missing in 2002 at the age of 20.
Police confirmed the three women were found together in a house in Cleveland.
According to a report released by Cleveland authorities, Berry called 911 shortly after breaking out of the house where she and the other two were held.
Police identified the suspect of the kidnapping as Ariel Castro, 52, now held under police custody.
The three women have been taken to a hospital and are reported to be in good medical state.
According to Dr. Gerald Maloney, the women are able to speak to hospital staff but did not give further details.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said he is thankful the three were found alive and well. He also said there are still “many unanswered questions” regarding the case and the investigations will continue.
