(Cebu City PIO) — Cebuanos will enjoy at least three holidays for the whole month of February this year.

February 19 Thursday will be a special non-working holiday in the entire country for the Chinese New Year celebration which is the start of the “Year of the Sheep” in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Meanwhile, on February 24 Tuesday it will be a special non-working holiday in the City of Cebu for its 78th Charter Day commemoration pursuant to the Republic Act 7287.

Looking back, it was on February 24, 1937, when the City of Cebu was born by virtue of Commonwealth Act No.58 through the initiative of Don Vicente Rama, the father of Cebu City Charter. The then municipality of Cebu who was under the Cebu Provincial Government became an independent Chartered City known as “Cebu City”.

Another holiday will be on February 25 Wednesday as it will be the EDSA Revolution or People Power Anniversary which is declared as a special holiday but for schools only. (Cebu City Public Information Office)
